Michele Celantano

Michele Celentano entered the world of volume photography 3 years ago after a 32 year career that spanned wedding, newborn, children, senior, commercial and family photography.  After 12 years of sub-par school pictures of her own daughter she began to wonder why school portraits looked the same as her own from 1976.  It was then that she decided there had to be a more modern way to photograph school students.  She decided to go with a one light, beauty dish set up that would resemble a more fashion/commercial portrait style.  Join Michele for the high energy program where she will share her set up, equipment and tips for getting great expressions while giving parents multiple poses/expressions to choose from.

Michele Neal Celentano experienced the magic of photography in 1987 at the age of 17. Her career spans more than 35 years. Michele started her career assisting wedding photographers and working in a lab processing and printing film. She studied at the Germain School of Photography in NYC and then worked as a cruise ship photographer. In 1993 while she was shooting weddings for various studios in the NY and NJ areas she started her first business as a photographer who specialized in only wedding photography.

Michele soon began to receive invitations to speak about her style of photography and through the years she has spoken at every major US photography conference. Michele has had the honor of speaking in Canada, Australia, South Korea, Italy, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and nearly every state in the US. In 2004 she was invited to become a Canon Explorer of Light which was and remains a career highlight.

She is a frequent speaker at WPPI and has served as a judge and chairperson for many years and the annual WPPI print competition. Michele authored a book on family portrait photography and has been featured in many trade publications. Today, Michele lives in Phoenix AZ with her husband Paul and continues to run her portrait studio as well as traveling to teach other photographers around the world.
